“Something From Nothing” is probably my new favourite Foo Fighter Song (Well favourite at the moment). Its from the album Sonic Highways and it is all about the music scene in Chicago.
As always David Grohl’s lyrics are fantastic and deep and I just love them, but what I especially enjoy about this song is the instrumentals. They have kind of a deeper and darker sound than some of the other tracks on the album. They have Rick Nielson, the guitarist and main songwriter from the Chicago based band Cheap Trick, playing on a baritone guitar which provides a nice contrast with the electric guitar. They guitars also sound scratchy, they dont have the autotuned perfected sound that many pop hits carry today-which fits perfectly for this song I think.
I would definitely check out this song and the entire Sonic Highways album!
